Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is employed to stop the so-called email spoofing where an email message can be sent from one email, but to seem as being sent from a different, generally with the purpose to fraud the recipient for some reason. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a unique record is created for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers around the world get it. The record includes all of the email servers that are allowed to send valid messages from an email address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. If, however, the sending server is not present in the SPF record for the specified domain, the e-mail message will not be submitted and it will be removed. If you use this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam emails which seem to have been sent by you.
SPF Protection in Cloud Website Hosting
When you host your domains in a cloud website hosting account with us and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to enable SPF protection for any of them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in a section of its own where you are able to see which domains are currently secured. For those which aren't, you can enable the SPF protection solution and set up numerous things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to create a rule that messages can be sent only when your domains use our MX records. The last mentioned option is the most secure one, and it can be used in the event that we take care of the e-mail addresses for your domain names and do not use some other e-mail supplier. The newly created records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email using your e-mail addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, which is included with our Linux semi-dedicated servers, will provide you with a very intuitive interface to enable the SPF protection service for every domain name that you host within your new account. A few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia will be enough for that then you'll only have to type in the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mail addresses. If the e-mails are handled by us and not by some other supplier, you'll be able to boost the protection level even more and activate an option for all of the outgoing e-mails to be sent only if your domain names feature our MX records. This option provides you with increased control and it'll eliminate any possibility of somebody counterfeiting your e-mails with the purpose of spamming and scamming people. It is not applicable if just your site is hosted on our outstanding cloud hosting platform, while your email addresses are handled by another provider. If you aren't sure what features to choose, our tech support team will help you 24/7.
